Member Categories
Students: Student members are undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students who enjoy the full benefits of Division 56 membership.
Fellows: Special member status is given to those who have made outstanding contributions to the field of trauma psychology. To find out more about Fellows Membership, view the Standing Committee page.
Members: Full members are individuals who work or demonstrate interest in the practice, research, and/or teaching of trauma psychology. Must have a doctoral degree in psychology or a related field from an accredited institution.
Associates: Associates have a Master’s degree or two years of graduate study in psychology or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
Professional Affiliates: Open to professionals with an interest in trauma psychology who are not Members of the APA and has a professional degree and/or license, or have a substantial background in trauma-related practice or research.

Members, Associates, and Affiliates may join or renew their membership in Division 56 without having to be a member in APA.
If you are renewing and still a current member of APA, but would like that to change, you will first need to resign your APA membership by emailing membership@apa.org. Then, to renew your Division 56 only membership, you can call 202-336-6013 and inform them you would like to renew your Division 56 membership alone. Membership dues will be $50.00 and you can pay by credit card.
Please note that in order to be a Fellow of Division 56, you must be an APA member.
