Carolyn Allard, PhD

Council Representative

A proud charter member of the Division, Carolyn has served as its President (2019-21) and Early Career Psychologist (ECP) Committee Co-Chair (2008-10), and currently is on the Editorial Board of the Division Journal, Psychological Trauma. Her current day is that of Distinguished Professor and Director of the PhD Program in Clinical Psychology at Alliant University, San Diego. She has also served on the clinical faculty of the psychiatry department at the University of California San Diego and directed the Military Sexual Trauma & Interpersonal Trauma Clinic and the Advanced Fellowship in Women’s Health at the Veteran Affairs San Diego Healthcare System. Carolyn has over 20 years of experience providing therapy, training and consultation in empirically supported interventions for posttraumatic distress, and conducting research on individual, socio-cultural and contextual predictors of posttraumatic distress and treatment outcomes. She is the co-developer of Trauma Informed Guilt Reduction (TrIGR), the evidence-based therapy that is the basis of her latest book, Transform Your Guilt and Shame, a self-guided workbook.
